The annual quilting show, “Spring on the Straits” by the Carquinez Strait Stitchers will be held again this year at the Benicia Historic Clock Tower Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. Quilts and wearable art will be available for purchase.

The 2011 featured artist is Margaret Linderman. Margaret’s interest in textiles and designs started with sewing doll clothes and bedding at the age of three. Sewing eventually led to weaving, loom and off-loom, basketry, fabric manipulation and stitchery. Quilting classes in the 1990’s with newer techniques and tools allowed Margaret to create clothing, and quilts that adorn every surface. Her wearable art was selected to be presented in the PIQF Fashion Show in 2007 and 2009.

Margaret will be sharing an extensive assortment from her personal collection that will inspire your creativity:
• Folkloric Adventures
• Embellished Denim Jackets
• Kimono Shapes for the 21st Century
• Old favorites are new again

Margaret will conduct the following demos:
• Saturday 11:30 – How to use ethnic treasures to create a wearable art jacket
• Saturday 2:30 – Doodling with our sewing machines
• Sunday 1:00 – Fabric Collage
