California's annual Coastal Cleanup Day brings thousands of volunteers to pick up plastic and other debris along our beautiful shorelines up and down the state. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to join the fun and fellowship of caring for our waterways here in Benicia, along our Carquinez Strait beaches and other sites.

Sailboats on the Carquinez Strait

The event starts at 9am and there’s a free BBQ for volunteers at 9th Street Park at noon. If you have them, it would be very helpful to bring a reusable bag & gloves. Sites include the First Street waterfront, West 3rd Street, West 6th Street, West 9th Street, West 12th Street, the Benicia State Recreation Area and Benicia High School. Just show up and sign in with the site captain, Sue Frost, Watereducation@att.net, 707.980.1895.
