Solano Youth Theatre’s youngest company members will soon present Aladdin.  Based upon the Tales of the Arabian Nights and adapted by Kathryn Shultz Miller, this production marks the first show produced under the auspices of Young Artist Conservatory of Music, and officially opens the Solano Youth Theatre 2011 – 2012 season.

Director Dottie Bonneau, a veteran theatre teacher with 49 years of experience teaching kids, said in a recent press release, “I love the energy of the arts combining at YACM… the musicians are rehearsing in the building while we are holding Aladdin rehearsals…the drummers are right next door!  The musicians stop in and watch what we are doing, and I know that some of our actors are also taking music lessons.  This is an exciting environment and I have seen some wonderful growth this fall.  There are actors who were reluctant to even speak at the beginning of rehearsal and now they empower each other and really jump in.”

“The multi-cultural aspect of this production as reflected in the music and costuming is also a wonderful component of this magical script” she said.

Two separate and energetic munchkin casts are merrily working on the exact same material in Vacaville and Vallejo.  Director Dottie Bonneau leads the Vacaville munchkin cast and Veteran SYT director Eric Hayes returns to lead the Vallejo/Benicia cast.  There are 44 kids between the 2 sites.

Program Director Holli Hornlien stated, “This is an incredibly exciting and significant moment in Solano Youth Theatre’s life.  I’m so glad we are here.”

Aladdin plays at the Harbor Theatre, 720 Main Street, Suisun City, CA on December 4th and 10th at 4:30 and 6:30pm. Admission is $6 for children and $12 for adults.
