The Benicia Public Library, which is coming up on its 24th anniversary in its beautiful location on East L Street, is a warm and welcoming environment for all members of the community, but especially for kids and families. There are four book clubs for kids ranging from second grade to high school, and story times for the younger ones (beginning in infancy). After School Zone hours during the week are perfect for kids looking for somewhere cozy to study and be with other kids on these cold winter days, and weekend and evening events are open to the whole family.
There are myriad ways to encourage children’s connections to reading and literature, as well as fun community involvement that is not directly centered around reading. The library keeps an ongoing calendar of events online (that also comes in a printer-friendly version for your fridge).
