Join the City of Benicia, the Benicia Historical Society and Benicia Historical Museum in celebrating May as National Preservation Month. The theme of this year’s preservation month is “Old Is the New Green.” Whether you choose to reinvest in older and historic buildings, live in a historic home, or support your local preservation organization, you are supporting a more sustainable world. Benicia is proud to have such a strong representation of historic structures contributing to our small-town charm. As you drive through town, take the time to appreciate not only the beautiful structures that have been preserved, but also the people who have preserved them. To learn more, we invite you to stop by the historic preservation booth at the May 6th Farmer’s Market. In addition, the Historic Preservation Review Commission will be holding an open house at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 27 at the Commanding Officer’s Quarters. Join us to meet Commissioners and City Staff and to learn about preservation efforts in Benicia. Happy National Preservation Month!
