What are they doing now and how do they feel about not being on the City Council?

Alan just returned from a vacation to France, where he visited Paris and attended a FIFA Women’s World Championship game with the USA Women’s Team defeating England 2-1.

Alan continues to be the Benicia Branch Manager of American Pacific Mortgage located at 615 First Street in Downtown Benicia.  While he is transitioning to retirement, he remains very much involved with the Benicia community. He watches the City Council on Cable TV and actually came to a meeting to state his position on cannabis in Benicia.  He hopes to spend more time with his family and grandkids, which will include more time in Oregon, in the near future.

Mark Hughes retired from PG&E before retiring from the City Council in 2018. His retirement did not last very long as he accepted a part time position as the Executive Director at the Industrial Association of Contra Costa County, which represents approximately 50 companies in Contra Costa and Solano County.

Mark and his wife Michelle continue their involvement in Benicia and with their family. They both recently were instrumental in the Community Action Council (CAC) Fashion Show Luncheon held on Administrative Professionals Day. The fundraiser benefitted the Senior Meals Program for the community. The couple have worked on behalf of CAC for many years. Mark and Michelle are very much enjoying spending more time with their family, including their 2 year-old granddaughter.

Mark stays in touch with Benicia City leaders and follows the actions of the City Council. He is considering another run for Mayor in 2020, but won’t make a final decision for several months.

A good start to the next chapter for both our former Council Members.
