How do you feel about being a musician at this stage of your life?

It’s really great to be at a place where I can pick and choose the gigs I really want to play.

What’s your music background?

I have been playing saxophone around the Bay Area for over thirty years and have shared the stage with Huey Lewis, Elvin Bishop, Davey Pattison and many other local musicians. I play public concerts and private events. In Benicia, I’m at the Farmer’s Market at least once a month and I play with Jazz Explosion on Thursday nights at the Union Hotel. I have played on a number of jazz recordings and was recently featured on a 2011 CD release titled “Sierra Nights,” which is available on my website, kevfrazier.com. I’m also the president of Grid 1 Audio LLC, makers of the world’s first 60 watt battery-powered tube guitar amplifier and a battery-powered pedalboard called the “Pedal Jeanie.”

Who was your biggest influence?

David Sanborn. I met him on my 40th birthday. I told him that I learned to play sax just by listening to him play.
