Downtown Benicia’s HQ Gallery threw a big party last month to celebrate its one-year anniversary in it’s First Street location. Dignitaries, art lovers, artists and residents gathered at the foot of First Street to mark the occasion of their first successful year.
Housed next to the Gallery 621 and Plein Air Gallery, the HQ gallery is unique: there are 25+ artists of all skill levels from those just starting out on their artistic journeys to seasoned studio artists, working in a wide variety of media.

Started by Benicia artist Susan Street, the HQ gallery is the newest downtown gallery to open on First Street and is a welcome addition to the downtown art scene. In May, the artists threw a big party to share some cake and tell stories. Here are samples of work from two member artists.
