Benicia’s newest art exhibit space, the HQ Gallery located in Benicia’s upper Arsenal, will soon be moving to 333 First Street, and will be open for this year’s Arts Benicia’s Artist Open Studios event, May 6 and 7. The gallery is celebrating its one-year anniversary with music, food and drink, and a brand new show with original artist members as well as artists new to the gallery. In addition to mixed media pieces, oil and acrylic paintings, prints and needlework, the gallery will be adding talent in the areas of drawing, psychedelic primitives, stone, paper on paper abstracts, whimsical clay sculptures and watercolor figures.
“This is a wonderful move for us and we look forward to showing Benicia our new gallery space and our new works. The public is invited to join us May 6,7 for Open Studios and our First Year Anniversary gala,” said Susan Street, founding member.
“The new gallery space will feature Established and emerging artists, for a total of 20 artists showing their works in various mediums.” The downtown Benicia gallery opens May 1, and will be the third art gallery in the waterfront district of First Street.
