“A Gathering Place in Vallejo,” serving coffee, tea, beer, wine, and small plates while spinning turntable tunes. A real treat for your ears and your taste buds while opening your heart to community.

Vallejo’s newest neighborhood cafe and bar are brought to life by Melanie, Anthony and Chelsey—three neighbors with backgrounds in music, design, hospitality, and a shared love for their town of Vallejo. Come join their passion, meet some new friends, enjoy some curated music, all while imbibing drinks and bar snacks from local food purveyors and farmers.

Try the Queso Fundido or the Salo Salo Lumpia served with fresh herbs and leaf lettuce. The Affogato is a hit with vanilla or coconut gelato—add a spectacular honey saba lumpia for a special treat.

Village opened on January 28, 2026. After over three years of dreaming, scheming and building, the space has been lovingly and beautifully redone with simple lines and light. Gracie and Rockin’ Robin chatted with locals who were grateful for the friendly vibe, the spirit of generosity and acceptance, delicious drinks and snacks, all in a location that many could walk to from their homes.

Check out this creative, artistic, and welcoming space. Summer will bring outdoor seating. Open evenings to start, with plans to expand to all day service. Closed Tuesdays.

Big Fish

2003 Fantasy/Adventure
125 minutes
PG-13
Streaming on Prime, Apple TV, YouTube

A wild, fantastical ride and a timeless film that continues to resonate. Big Fish combines director Tim Burton‘s unusual humor with a heart-wrenching story of a deathbed reconciliation. Will (Billy Crudup) believes that his father Edward (Albert Finney) has used his embellished tales to hide his true self over his lifetime. When his father is dying, he comes home one more time in an attempt to discover who his father really is.

Big Fish is a story about stories. Specifically the stories we tell ourselves and each other. In Will’s bigger-than-life stories you’ll find a friendly, helpful giant; conjoined dancing twins; a huge fish; a werewolf; and a town where no one wears shoes. Not everything is as it seems.

In one of many memorable scenes, young Will proposes to his own true love from within a field of thousands of daffodils—a simple, beautiful moment that reminds us how stories can turn ordinary feelings into something unforgettable. It’s not about whether it really happened. It’s about how it felt when it did.

There is magic and melancholy, love and forgiveness and ultimately…connection.

Also starring the ravishing Jessica Lange, the lovely Ewan McGregor, a spicy Danny DeVito, the stunning Marion Cotillard and the astonishingly wicked Helena Bonham Carter along with Steve Buscemi, Alison Lehman and a quick cameo by Miley Cyrus.

Settle in for a romp and a giggle with more than a touch of beauty and a generous dash of heart. Happy Spring!
