It’s celebration time at the Benicia Yacht Club as the 2018 season unfolds in April. To kick things off, the annual Opening Day on the Strait festivities will commence along the Benicia Marina and at the Yacht Club, 400 East Second Street on April 28. This year’s theme is the Spirit of America.
Opening Day on the Strait comes on the heels of Opening Day on the Bay, April 22, an annual celebration of the maritime community on the San Francisco Bay, with a robust lineup of things to do. Both events feature the annual Blessing of the Fleet.

A full day of celebrating along Benicia’s beautiful waterfront, the BYC event includes vendor booths, food, arts and crafts, beer and wine, nighttime activities and more, appropriate for all ages and family fun. It’s one of just a few days each year that the Yacht Club is open to the public, where visitors can take a tour of the facilities, including the dining room and Norton Lounge, and watch the boats go by. As the light fades into evening, it’s full sail ahead into dinner and dancing.
Open all year, BYC is a social club with boating and non-boating members, offering food and drink, and events scattered throughout the year. The club also features a youth sailing program, sailboat racing and other programs.
