Congratulations to Ms. Kelly Brown and her fellow first grade teachers at Robert Semple Elementary School, Ms. Karen Thompson and Ms. Michelle Chapman for their recent b-Cubed grant from Jordan Real Estate, Olson Realty, and the Rosie Switzer Memorial Fund as part of the Benicia Education Foundation (BEF).

b-Cubed is an innovative collaboration between BUSD, BEF and Benicia businesses to support classroom projects. The grant supported nine portable Listening Centers designed to develop literacy skills for all learners.  The child-friendly, durable CD players and headphones make reading children’s literature fun and accessible, even for struggling readers.  By helping students with intonation, inflection and comprehension, students build confidence and are more likely to become lifelong readers.
