Mt. Beautiful is a New Zealand vineyard with a Benicia presence. With their Kiwi founder having settled in the Bay Area through professorship and research at UC Berkeley, Benicia was a perfect fit for the headquarters of this world-class winery. Over the past ten years, this globally recognized winery has come to call Benicia home and has been quietly giving back to our community, in what Mt. Beautiful’s Marketing Manager Suzanna Mannion calls an “organic” maneuver. “In this day and age, it’s expected of businesses to give back to the communities they’re a part of… with so many of our employees calling Benicia their home, it was natural to start donating to causes that are near and dear to them.” Mt. Beautiful has donated wine and services to various causes including the Kyle Hyland Foundation Golf Tourney, Tim and Jeannie Hamann Foundation Dinner Auction for local cancer patient financial needs,  Sip for Soroptomists, Benicia Fashion Runway, and many more including local school fundraiser events.

Pairings for Thanksgiving:

Mt. Beautiful Riesling: off dry Riesling that would pair nicely with turkey, sweet potatoes and stuffing.
2018 Mt. Beautiful Rose: Very versatile and can go with anything. Recommended pairing: a charcuterie platter; soft ripe cheeses, cured or smoked meats, Castelvetrano olives, fig jam and lightly salted or rosemary crackers.

2017 Mt. Beautiful Sauvignon Blanc and 2017 Pinot Gris with their vibrant acidity will contrast nicely with densely rich dishes.
2017 Mt. Beautiful Pinot Noir: will pair well with turkey meat and especially complement cranberry-like flavors

Mt. Beautiful wines can be purchased through their website mtbeautiful.com, and you can even choose a will-call pickup to avoid international shipping charges. Be sure to get your order in early as there is often a delay with international shipping.

Mt. Beautiful is offering Benicia Magazine readers:

50% off shipping, any quantity of wine purchased at https://www.mtbeautiful.com/wines.asp

Discount Code: BENICIAMAG

Local shoppers can also choose “Will Call Pick Up” for Tuesdays (12pm  – 3 pm) on orders placed the prior Friday. They don’t keep a ton of inventory in our office, therefore need time to transfer it from our warehouse in Napa.

MTB will also donate a percent of proceeds to the Solano and Contra Costa County Food Bank for purchases made online though end of 2019.
