The City of Benicia is opening the interest list to all Benicia residents for subsidized energy and water assessments and upgrades. The City has contracted with Ennovationz to provide a one-year, City-subsidized pilot program for approximately 250 Benicia homes.  Resident participation will be released in 20-30 unit blocks through 2010.

Ennovationz is also partnering with Benicia High School’s Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) team to provide water assessments to these homes, providing the team a unique green workforce development opportunity. The students are creating their own water assessment business and Ennovationz is proud to be providing the training and mentorship for this business.

Participating residents will receive a customized in-home energy and water analysis; a report that prioritizes the most cost-effective upgrades; some free instant upgrades which include lightbulbs, showerheads, timers and power strips; plus an outline of larger energy-saving purchases and home improvements. Overall identified savings opportunities are expected to be $200 to more than $1,000 per home.

All residents of the City of Benicia are eligible to participate in this program. To sign up, residents can add their name and home information to the program interest list online at www.BeniciaHomeEfficiency.org. The first in-home assessments will begin in March 2010.
