Whether you are a complete novice, a seasoned art collector or somewhere in between, Arts Benicia’s annual Small Works Exhibition is a fun addition to anyone's holiday event schedule. This year’s show, “Gems”, encompasses a focused approach on exquisite, intricate, intimate works of art on a small scale. The show opens December 1 and runs through December 18. With a size limit of 7"x7"x7" (unframed), the works are intended to draw the viewer in close and create an intimate, personal viewing experience that is meant to be shared. The juried exhibition includes works in a variety of media by select Arts Benicia members and other local and regional artists. “Gems” presents unique, firstrate work created in Benicia and the greater Bay Area. The works are available for sale at the Arts Benicia Gallery, offering a very intriguing alternative to commercial shopping. These diminutive works also offer a unique opportunity to own original art at a more affordable price, or impress someone special with a thoughtful artistic selection.
The opening reception will be held December 3 from 7-9pm. This is a fun meet and greet, with light refreshments and a gala atmosphere. Also in conjunction with the show is the ongoing Family Art Day, December 4, 1-3pm. The Arts Benicia Gallery is open Thursday-Sunday 12-5pm, and is located at 991 Tyler Street #114, in Benicia’s lower Arsenal. Find out more at www.artsbenicia.org or 707.747.0171.
