This biennial fundraiser serves up a delightful evening of dancing, delectable bites, and fine wine and spirits provided by the Rellik Tavern, and the highlight of the night is an entertaining live auction under the big tent.
Guests can take the fun up a notch by coming dressed as one of their heroes, whether fictional or real-life. “It’s open-ended,” according to Arts Benicia Executive Director Celeste Smeland. “You can come as Wonder Woman, or you can come as your mom!”
The organizers at Arts Benicia have a dynamic duo of auctions in store. A silent auction running throughout the evening will comprise about 70 pieces of high-quality artwork in a variety of media and at widely appealing price points, and it will also display tantalizing “Adventure Packages” of items and services donated by local businesses and individuals, including trips, tickets, gift items, and many other goodies.
The big KAPOW of the evening will be an exciting live auction, which offers a 3-day weekend on the Sonoma coast and showcases 12 selected works of art. Featured artists in the 2019 auction include Diane Williams, Terry Hughes, Erika Sean Hoffe, Teeda LoCodo, andGeraldine Arata, and this year the auction will also include selected works from the personal collection of Manuel Neri.
For 32 years Arts Benicia has been a vital part of the local and regional arts community, providing art exhibitions as well as educational programs for all ages. The art auction and party, held every other year, is the non-profit organization’s most important fundraiser, generating revenue to support the exhibitions, art classes, youth programs, and special events. It is made possible through the contributions of dozens of dedicated Arts Benicia volunteers and the generosity of talented regional artists who are invited to donate a piece to Arts Benicia for inclusion in the exhibition and auction.
The Superheroes Bash! Art Auction and Party takes place Saturday, September 21, from 6:30 to 10:30 pm, at Arts Benicia, 991 Tyler Street, #114, in the historic Benicia Arsenal. Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at artsbenicia.org/tickets or by calling the gallery at 707-747-0131.
A preview exhibition of all silent and live auction artwork runs from September 14 through 21 in the Arts Benicia gallery and online at artsbenicia.org/artwork-for-sale.
