Benicia artists open their workspaces to the public next month during the immensely popular Arts Benicia’s annual Artist Open Studios two-day event. Visitors from Benicia and around the Bay come for education, conversation and inspiration—and for the opportunity to get to know their favorite artists (and meet new soon-to-be-favorites), experience unique environments and purchase original art works. More than 70 studios will be open the weekend of May 3 and 4, 10am-5pm.
This year, the Arts Benicia Gallery presents an Open Studios Preview Exhibition, to give visitors a sneak peak at artists’ work and provide an opportunity to adequately plan studio visits. Art will be on display at the gallery from April 17 through May 4.
Wine and cheese will be available at the gallery during the event, so stop by, pick up a map, and wend your way, leisurely, through the studios of your choice (small nibbles will also be on hand at some studios). Two Downtown Galleries, the 621 Gallery and Plein Air Gallery, will also be participating.
