Stepping into a time machine, we travel back to the first decade of the 20th century in Lower Manhattan, New York. Esther, an African-American seamstress, sews magnificent undergarments for the ladies of all strata of New York society.  We’ll also meet her landlady, a prostitute, a lady from the upper crust of society, and a Hasidic Jewish tailor…quite an interesting cast of characters. To make things even more interesting, add in George, a Barbadian working on the Panama Canal. Esther and George have been corresponding by mail and decided to meet. Share this heartwarming, sometimes funny, sometimes sad slice of American life when thousands of African-Americans were moving north to find jobs and new less oppressive lives.
