Arts and Culture Guide
Benicia has long been regarded as important art community on the Bay Area stage. There are hundreds of visual and performing artists who provide a stimulating and lively atmosphere for residents and visitors. Artists work in all media including art glass, painting, printmaking, woodworking, ceramics, textiles and sculpture. Live music can be heard at local bars, restaurants and other venues and the Benicia Old Town Theatre Group produces two plays each year.
Benicia Main Street keeps Downtown hopping with numerous ongoing events – parades, festivals, farmers market, Fashion Weekend, a Taste of First and much more. The Historical Museum and Historical Society actively celebrate the town’s rich history going back to the Civil War, and the Benicia Capitol State Historic Park & Fischer-Hanlon Home is open to visitors.
