Benicia’s waterfront location as a port city in the 1800s, the aesthetics of the Carquinez Strait, water usage, the affects of drought, flooding and more are captured through the lens of local artists in Drop by Drop, an upcoming Exhibit.
The late, renowned artist Jack Laycox’s paintings will be exhibited July 10-September 10 at the Milinda Perry Gallery in downtown Benicia. A reception for Cydne Kaye, Laycox’s niece, will be held July 28, 5-7pm, 117 East F Street.
Benicia’s newest poet laureate, Johanna Ely, is passionate about bringing more poetry into the schools, and helping people to not be afraid of poetry. Launching the First Sunday Poetry Series, other events and programs are to follow.
